Manifestation
A 1'5 million people have responded, according to the Department of Interior and the police, call the independence of the National Day of Catalonia in Barcelona. This fact makes it a historical manifestation, the most crowded ever made in our country.

Els Segadors
The Segadors is the current official and national hymn of Catalonia. Its origin dates of the War of the Segadors, in the 17th century. The hymn does a call to protect the freedom of the land.
When the War of the Thirty Years bursted, on 1618, at first for religious causes, and it also mixed political and economic questions, Felip IV of Austria, king of Spain, took part in defense of the Germanic emperor of the dynasty of the Habsburg, his uncle Ferran II.
But the wars cost money, and took down the royal treasure. It is then when pretends that Catalonia contribute also men and money to the war. This originates a deep rejection and indignation of the Catalan population, that sees forced to receive the imperial troops in order to defend the Spanish border of the French attack. The performances of the count-Olivares's duke, Felip's prime minister IV, discovered so much activity in the Catalan village, for the violence and the abuses of his soldiers, that many populations felt annoyed. The day of Corpus of 1640 initiates in Barcelona the uprising of the segadors in the called Corpus of Blood. The Generality and the councillor in any, Pau Claris, did side to the annoyed ones.
